Thrissur Pooram festival of Kerala
•It is also known as mother of all festivals is a seven day annual Hindu festival conducted in Kerala.
•It was started in the 18th Century by Sakthan Thampuran, the Maharaja of erstwhile Kochi.
•During the festival, Paramekkavu Devi temple and Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna temple pay their obeisance to Lord Shiva,the presiding deity of the Vadakkunnathan temple at Thrissur

Russian Poplar trees
•Jammu and Kashmir(J&K) High Court has stayed its 2015 order directing the civil administration to cut down Russian Poplar trees in the union territory of J&K
•The name Russian poplar is a misnomer and has nothing to do with Russia
•The tree is a Western American species known as Eastern Cottonwood (Populus deltoides) in the US.
•It was introduced in Kashmir in 1982 from the US under a World Bank-aided social forestry scheme.
•The species takes less time(10-15 years) to grow as compared to the Kashmir poplar that takes 30-40 years.
[Due to their high yield, poplars are intensively used in the timber and construction industry.]
What is Post-Intensive Care Syndrome(PICS)?
•It is a collection of physical, mental and emotional symptoms that continue to persist after a patient leaves the intensive care unit(ICU)
•After leaving the Intensive care unit(ICU), some Covid-19 patients may suffer from what is known as post-intensive care syndrome(PICS)
•The most common PICS symptoms are generalised weakness, fatigue, decreased mobility, anxious or depressed mood, sexual dysfunction, sleep disturbances and cognitive issues.
• These symptoms may last for a few months or many years after recovery, the authors of the aforementioned article note
•PICS may be induced if a person was on prolonged mechanical ventilation, experienced sepsis, multiple organ failure and a prolonged duration of “bed-restore deep sedation” etc.

What is Chitra GeneLAMP- N ?
