GOAL (Going Online As Leaders) Programme
•It aims to enable Scheduled Tribe (ST) youth in remote areas to use digital platforms for sharing their aspirations, dreams and talent with their mentors
•GOAL programme is a joint initiative of Facebook and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
•The GOAL programme is designed to provide mentorship to tribal youth through digital mode.
•The program will focus on three core areas –
1. Digital Literacy,
2. Life Skills
3. Leadership and Entrepreneurship
•The program intends to upskill and empower 5,000 tribal youths in the current phase to harness the full potential of digital platforms and tools to learn new ways of doing business, explore and connect with domestic and international markets.
Eventbot : a new malware
•Eventbot is a Trojan. [It cheats victims secretly attacking computer or phone operating system.]
•It targets money-transfer services, financial applications.
•Computer Emergency Response of Team (CERT) of India has issued warning against a new malware called “EventBot”
•♀Malware↪a software designed to perform an unwanted illegal act via the computer network ⤵
•Virus↪is a program that can infect other programs by modifying them
•computer worm↪is a type of malware that spreads copies of itself from computer to computer
♀Trojans( is another form of Malware);-
↪Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive ⤵
•Hoax↪is an e-mail that warns the user
•Spyware↪monitors a user’s activities without consent
•It is a tropical cyclone formed over Bay of Bengal that has intensified and likely to turn into a “super cyclonic storm (maximum wind speed is 120 knots)”.
•According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, it will make landfall as a very severe cyclone between the Sagar islands of West Bengal and the Hatiya islands of Bangladesh.
•It has been named by Thailand.
•Amphan is the second pre-monsoon cyclone to form in the Bay of Bengal in two years. [The first one was Cyclone Fani].

National Migrant Information System (NMIS)
•It is an online portal developed by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) that would maintain a central repository of migrant workers and help in speedy inter-state communication to facilitate the smooth movement of migrant workers to their native places.
•The key data pertaining to the persons migrating has been standardized for uploading such as name, age, mobile no., originating and destination district, date of travel etc.
•It has additional advantages like contact tracing, which may be useful in overall Covid-19 response work
Challenge Covid-19 Competition (C3)
•It was launched by National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF) and intented for engaging innovative citizens to come up with ideas and innovations to manage pandemic and its consequences
•National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF) has identified several Science and Tech based innovative solutions through the Challenge Covid-19 Competition (C3) to tackle Covid-19 pandemic.
[The campaign ran from 31st March to 10th May 2020.]
•National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India: It was set up in 2000 with the assistance of the Department of Science and Technology.
•It is India’s national initiative to strengthen the grassroots technological innovations and outstanding traditional knowledge.
Draft resolution demanding evaluation of WHO’s response towards COVID-19 【Bilkul Sahi:)】
• Recently, India joined 61 countries that have moved a proposal at the World Health Assembly to identify the zoonotic source of the coronavirus.
•The resolution will be tabled in the 74th World Health Assembly to be convened by the WHO
•It is a part of a seven-page draft resolution moved by 35 countries and the 27-member European Union.
1. It asks the WHO chief to work with the World Organisation for Animal Health to conduct scientific and collaborative field missions and the route of introduction to the human population (novel coronavirus), including the possible role of intermediate hosts.
2. The countries also demanded an “impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation” of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) response to Covid-19. etc.
•Resolution is supported by three of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council — UK, Russia and France — along with Japan, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey.
•From the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations, only India, Bangladesh and Bhutan have signed up
•This is the first time India has taken a position in an international forum on the origin of the virus and the need for an independent evaluation of WHO’s response to the crisis.
